Dirk Radloff The internet is full if articles, which proclaim the death of the guitar. These two guys show one way out off old-fashioned sounds and tecniques and sound sometimes as contemporary as Aphex Twin. Favorite track: BETWIXT & BETWEEN.

wc_helmets There's guitar ambient loop, and then there's what Stringmodulator makes. This music is propulsive, moving, and kinetic. Amazing it all stems from improv sessions. Would love to see live. Favorite track: HORROR VACUI.

Stringmodulator is the brain-child of German musicians Jan Quednau (bass) and Fabian Chmielewski (guitar).

Their shared love of electronica, krautrock and jazz is the basis for their experimental music on 10 strings. All sounds are made by guitar and bass.

The title of their new album “Manifesto: Noises made by Guitar and Bass” says it all: all sounds are made by these two instruments (and effect pedals). The music was composed spontaneously and recorded on a two-track machine without subsequent overdubs. By this means Jan and Fabian could capture the inspiration and the energy of the here and now.

"A leftfield work of relentless invention and passion"
-- Prog Magazine

"Like an amped-up Eno & Fripp or loopcentric lapping Math Rock version of Ash Ra Temple colliding with Einstürzende Neubauten this ten-string project is influenced by a wide range of conceptual and experimental artists: even soundtrack composers. Arty, technical yet ballsy, they span many moods; energetic being one of their strongest. I’m recommending it though because it is so different and difficult to define. It confounds me to be honest. And I find that interesting."
-- Monolith Cocktail

"Unexpected depth and creativity, embodied in an experimental landscape of unique and original music. This album is a definite must have."
-- Floorshime Zipper Boots

"Manifesto sounds like Vangelis on speed or steroids or some transcendental concoction that mere mortals have yet to conceive. The concept is seasoned with a cool Krautrock strut, but that's only the start."
-- Bizarre Chats
