This recording is the document of an installation by Hans Castrup, "Das 7. Siegel“ (The 7th Seal). It referred to "The Seven Trombone Angels" - a print from Albrecht Dürer´s woodcut cycle “The Apocalypse“ from the year 1498 .

The installation was displayed from July - September 2017 at the exhibition "Dürer und Ich – ein Künstlertreffen" at the Museumsquartier Osnabrück.

"Das 7. Siegel" was a 3-channel sound installation which comprised three paintings on KAPA lightweight foam panels with exciter speakers on the reverse, two CD-players, two amplifiers and one subwoofer.
The size of the paintings is 300x140 cm each, acrylic/oil mixture; with the exciters they functioned as loudspeakers.

The music, an electro-acoustic sound collage, came from two CDs of different lengths – one 24:00 and one 26:00 minutes, which were played in continuous non-synchronized loops by two CD players.
The CD players were restarted anew every day during the exhibition. This resulted in a more or less unique interplay of the two loops daily.

This recording offers a mix of the two loops, approximately one and a half passes in length, similar to the original installation.
