Constant Imbalances V

knightd68 This is quite something. A dirty, jagged ambient cacophony. A nightmare soundscape journey, into an icy Lovecraftian abyss. Although made up of individual tracks it largely plays out like a single extended orchestral piece. Darkly superb and unquestionably recommended. Constant Imbalances for sure! Favorite track: Perxant.

about

The 5th part of a series of works of different kinds (parts I and II are both poetry books; part IV is a series of paintings), which finds a - temporary - end with this album.

Part V = 8 tracks of abstract electronic music. Again the imbalances stay constant.

This time orchestral noise and quieter atmospheres, harmony and disharmony, tension and relaxation meet in large spaces, collide and lose each other. All in all, a counterbalance to Part III.

-- HC

"Metallic textures and thwarted moments leave only the tiniest space for temporary, fleeting euphoria [...] The finely-wrought pieces here feel like a necessary sonic riposte to the current slew of therapeutic ambient music."
-- Electronic Sound

"Castrup lets the synth registers roar dramatically and horns sound like they are not from this world, over bubbling, buzzing waves. He integrates the waste of Babylonian confusion of language, opens hissing valves, lets fictitious bass clarinets roar and whistle discant frequencies. An Ocean of Sound, turbulent, in whirring whirlpools, as if Poseidon were pulling the dazzling registers of a mega-organ and blowing oceanic whistles."
-- Rigo Dittmann, Bad Alchemy
